How do you flex a budget with multiple cost drivers?

Advanced

Answer

When costs depend on more than one driver (e.g., some overheads vary with machine hours, others with number of orders), flex each cost pool by its own driver at the actual driver level. This activity-based flexing gives a more accurate allowed cost than using a single volume measure, especially where overhead is diverse.
Real-world example Setup costs flex with the number of production runs while power flexes with machine hours.
