How does a going concern material uncertainty appear in the auditor's report?
AdvancedAnswer
When the going concern basis is appropriate but a material uncertainty exists and is adequately disclosed, the report includes a separate 'Material Uncertainty Related to Going Concern' section after the Basis for Opinion, drawing attention to the note and stating the opinion is not modified in this respect. Inadequate disclosure instead leads to a qualified or adverse opinion.
Real-world example A distressed but adequately-disclosed client gets a clean opinion plus a Material Uncertainty Related to Going Concern section.
